"... My holiday continued from Alice Springs via the Tanami Track to Halls Creek into the Bungle Bungles, then back to Broome. From Broome we travelled to Derby, onto the Gibb River road to an isolated Aboriginal mission at Kalumbaru, out to the Mitchell Plateau, back onto the Gibb River road and onto the Kununurra. Most of the driving was on very rough corrugated roads which contained many sharp rocks and was very demanding on the tyres. We had a convoy of 7 vehicles and 4 trailers and I was the only one with Tyre Shield. In all, we had 22 flat tyres and some of those were completely wrecked.
